EASY INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE:
PITCH (note names, i.e. C, B-flat, F-sharp): type the letter name on your QWERTY keyboard. Use the UP and DOWN arrows on your keyboard to adjust up/down if needed. A Tool Palette appear when you select a note with the mouse. Use the SHARP (#) or FLAT (b) tool if needed.
RHYTHM (length of note, i.e. half note, quarter note): After entering a note, use the BRACKET keys to change the duration of the default rhythm. The LEFT bracket shortens the duration (i.e. from a quarter note to an 8th note) and the RIGHT bracket lengthens the note (i.e. from a quarter note to a half note, etc.).
ADDITIONAL MUSICAL EXPRESSIONS: A Tool Palette appear when you select a note with the mouse. In addition to the tools you view immediately, the Tool Palette has several tabs for additional types of tools (i.e. crescendo hairpins, slurs, beaming, etc.). When you choose something on the Tool Palette, it appears in the score.
TASK: Using Noteflight, TYPESET the lead sheet for the song, "Aura Lee." For this simple, initial lead sheet effort no chord symbols will be used. Make your Noteflight lead sheet score look as close to EXACTLY like the example below, including number of measures per line (called "systems") and spacing between systems. When finished, link the score to your page of the wiki. BE SURE TO INDICATE "Entered by Your Name" to receive credit!!!
In Noteflight, you can take any shared score and link to it from any web page on the Internet. This allows you to put references to your scores anywhere on the web; if people click the link, they will go to a page that allows them to view your score (or even edit your score, if you allow that.) To share a link to a score, open the Sharing & Connect Panel and make sure that your score is shared, not private. Then click the button with the share icon.
LEAD SHEET PROJECT GRADES: Grades for your lead sheet efforts will be scaled as follows...
"Distinguished" - 90-100% of notes/rhythms, formatting and other details the same as example. "Proficient" - 80-89% of notes/rhythms, formatting and other details the same as example. "Basic" - 70-79% of notes/rhythms, formatting and other details the same as example. "Unsatisfactory" - 60-69% of notes/rhythms, formatting and other details the same as example.
